The book Author to Auteur: Theories and Film Adaptations dwells on the relationship between literature and films and aims to enable students to understand the concepts better with the help of intellectual scholarships and philosophies. Divided into two sections, the first part of the book deals with theories pertaining to cinematic adaptations, the revival and recreation of literature, the utilisation of contemporary space, and the employment of dramatic de/construction and delocalisation. The second part of the book is devoted to the adaptations of William Shakespeare, Rabindranath Tagore and Amrita Pritam’s works. The essays revisit both the source text and the filmic adaptations through the intertwining lens of New Historicism, Cultural Materialism, Film Criticism, Postcolonialism and Feminism for an effective study of this course.
