Curtis, who up until now, has most commonly been recognized for his photographs in The North American Indian; With the revival of his works, these specific pictures and text from this book, have been overlooked; probably much to the author;s dismay as he took special interest in the Indians of the Northwest. Their home was his home and it was these Indians that inspired his entire undertaking and it was these Indians that inspired his entire undertaking to record their vanishing way of life.
