Database of poverty at the global and Indian level is also available in the book. The evidence of poverty in North-East India as whole and different states of India like Rajasthan,Maharashtra, Orissa, Assam, Kerela, etc. are included in the review of literature. The concept and measurement of poverty, and issues connected with poverty are adequately dealt in the book. The book also deals with various anti-poverty measures which have been taken up by the government of India and these are divided between pre-reform and post-reform measures. A first hand data and analysis of poverty in two districts of Mizoram is done by using expenditure and income variables, and also by looking the capability failures. The causes and effects of poverty are also traced by the book.
