Man, being an integral ingredient of environment must play the most responsible role to protect the environment from the growing rates of degradation. Here environmental education has been recognized, at the global planteform, as one of the important tools to develop all the necessary awareness knowledge, attitude and skills for a sustainable future. Environmental education has two broad forms- formal and non- formal. The author tried to observe the role of these two forms of environmental education and also to established a linkage between them for imparting environmental awareness and protecting environment and its elements.
